What is the Mempool?
Concept

The Mempool (Memory Pool) is where unconfirmed transactions wait in the Bitcoin network before being included in a block. When a user sends Bitcoin, the transaction first enters the mempool and waits until a miner includes it in the next block.

Fees and Priority

Miners prioritize transactions with higher fees. The more congested the mempool, the higher the fee needed for faster processing. Conversely, when the mempool is empty, even minimum fees result in fast processing.

Congestion Levels
ClearUnder 20,000 unconfirmed TX. Fast processing with minimum fees.
Fair20,000–50,000 TX. Normal fees recommended.
Congested50,000–100,000 TX. High fees required.
Very CongestedOver 100,000 TX. Fees spike, wait times increase.
Tip: For non-urgent transfers, sending when congestion is "Clear" can save significant fees.
